Hotsyncing with the Cable in Windows 7 or Vista  (Note: your existing Palm Software on CD won't work)

Click here for Instructions Setting Up Windows 7/Vista Hotsyncing with the Hotsync Cable

OTHER WAYS TO HOTSYNC IN WINDOWS 7 AND VISTA

Hotcyncing with Bluetooth or Wireless Networking ( Supported PDA's include: Tungsten T, T2, E, E2, TX, i705,W,C, Treo, Centro,Nokia Internet Tablet N Series.) for all other non Bluetooth or wireless PDA see options 2 or 3.  Bluetooth is easy to setup and works great without need for a hotsync cable.  You can Hotsync from up to 35 ft away from your computer with Bluetooth and even farther with Wireless.

To setup hotsyncing on your PC follow these steps..
1:     Download the Vista/Windows 7 Compatible Palm Desktop Software from Palm's Website. >: Palm Desktop 6.2 download.
2:     Follow the > Bluetooth Hotsync Guide or use the Wireless option (if you have a Palm TX model only).
Note: If your PC doesn't have Bluetooth support built in, you can purchase a USB adapter from Iomega or Belkin for about $25.
3:     If you have an older PDA that doesn't have built in  Bluetooth or wireless use Option 2 below.
4.    To access the bluetooth controls on the PDA see the PREFS icon or tap the  symbol
NOTE: Turn Bluetooth or Wireless off when not in use to save battery life while scoring games

Option 2: Installing and Hotsyncing ScoreKeeper with a SD Memory Card:  You can use your memory card to move games to and from the Palm with the use of a 3rd part app called Fileman.  Follow these steps to move games with your memory card to your PC.

Install the Palm Desktop Software from the CD included with your PDA or download from (Palm Desktop 6.2 download)
Next install ScoreKeeper from the TurboStats CD or download site (download ScoreKeeper)

1:    Remove the memory card from the PDA and insert it into your PC Card slot or external memory card reader.
2.    Create the folder H:\PALM\Launcher on your SD drive if it doesn't already exist.
( where "H" is your drive letter for the SD card.  see:  "My Computer" on your PC for the drive letter).
3.    Copy the application "c:\basket\pilot\basketball.prc" to your :\PALM\Launcher folder if you don't have ScoreKeeper on your PDA.
4:    To backup game files download the app:  Download Fileman from Bit's n Bolts Software.
5:    Save the Fileman.prc application to the folder on your SD card called H:\PALM\Launcher
6:    Remove your SD card from your PC and when you insert it in the PDA. You will see the new applications.

To Backup Games to your PC to import into TurboStats after you score them on your PDA

7:    Run Fileman on the PDA and copy the sk2 ???.pdb game files from the RAM folder tab on the PDA to the SD card in any folder you want.
8:    Then insert the SD card back in the PC and copy the sk2 ???.pdb files into the folder c:\Program Files\Palm\"your palm user name"\backup.
If you can't find the Palm user folder, install ScoreKeeper from the download or CD and search for *.pdb on your computer to see where the
sample game file is installed. this will be the location that TurboStats will be looking for when you try to import a game.
9:    Now go to the TurboStats game form and click the Palm Icon to load the game data.
10:   Note:  Fileman from Bit's n Bolts may require a small fee of $12 to use after the first month trial.

Option 3: Running Windows 7 in XP Mode and hotsyncing with the cable:  This option is new to us and we will expand on these instructions as we learn more about the process

1:    Run Windows 7's XP Mode window and install the Palm Desktop 4.1.4e there with Hotsync set to "Local USB":
2:    Press the hotsync button on the cradle, then go up to the USB menu at the top of the XP Mode window and click it.
You should see "Palm Handheld - Attach".  Click that and the hotsync should start.  Unfortunately you have to do that every time you hotsync; haven't yet found a way to attach the Palm's USB port permanently to the virtual machine - it disappears as soon as the hotsync is done, and the USB menu says "No device found."

The above advise worked for me.  I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  I have an old Palm m500 and I'm running Palm Desktop version 4.0.1 in XP Mode.  I was able to sync all my standard Palm application appointments, note pad files, memo files, and addresses too.
Problems with sklineup in Vista: If you have problems importing or exporting games in Vista try setting the file c:\basket\pilot\sklineup to run "as administrator".  Do the same for skprint and sk2turbo.  Use My Computer and right click the file and choose properties to do this.  You may also need to turn off User Account Controls.  Typical error message would be "sklineup has stopped working".

Issue 1.  Tracking Minutes Played
If playing time doesn't import correctly follow these steps:
Go back into the game on the Palm, Go to Menu> Preferences and set the time and number of periods (if it's set the way you want, try changing it and changing it back).  Then Hotsync again and import the game and the minutes played should be correct. Make sure you change the clock time when you are making substitutions and remember to change periods (at the end of each period) before making subs for the next period.

Fix: Team fouls resetting when you exit the game and get back in
NEW
: Possession Arrow
NEW: Player fouls appear next to player numbers on main screen

Version 2.2

Fix: Sub problem after editing editing multiple uniform numbers when creating/editing your lineup, that prevent getting a player into the game or duplicated a player in the game.
Fix:
Crash when setting fouls with player names over 18 characters.
Fix: Delete players from the roster on Treo 650 and Tungsten 5
NEW: Reset team fouls at half.
NEW: Checks for duplicate game file names on the PDA.
NEW:  Menu item for editing game notes while in the Scorecard view

About the Sub Problem:  Although we fixed the sub issue with version 2.2 you still will have problems with old rosters that were created in an earlier version so don't use a lineup from a game with the sub issue.  Create a new game on the PC or on the Palm by retyping in the lineup (don't use the pull down to select a lineup).

Version 2.1
Fix: Bug when substituting players where the same number would appear in the game twice.  Also related to fix in sklinup when exporting games over from TurboStats.  When you subbed a player from a team who's lineup was created in TurboStats, the same numbers appeared in the list on the bench as in the game.

Version 2.0  NEW FEATURES

Added: Put-Backs, Dive for Ball, Take Charge and tracks Minutes Played.  Works with 1.0 game files too.
Fix: Stats for games created in TurboStats for the PC and exported over to ScoreKeeper display zeros for the players in the box score of the ScoreKeeper - Game Summary reports.  To repair this issue download skprint.exe and sklineup.exe and put them in your c:\basket\pilot directory.  Files should have the date of 11/17/04.  If you ordered before 11/17 download the two updated files below.  If you don't have ScoreKeeper 2.1 yet, request it (see above).

other ScoreKeeper Issues:

Release 3.0H

Ver 3.0B (8/30/96) Fixes:  Fixed display of 2p%, 3p%, and FG% to one decimal place.  Fixed crash when pressing <enter> in overtime entry box.  Fixed the add player's box for new games if the "display player number" switch was off.  Automatically turns off average stats (assists, points, rebounds and turnovers ) when printing a game report. Allows "Game Type" selection during <all game summary> reports.  Fixed error message "you must enter game data" after you created a new team and prior to changing any user defined stats.

Ver 3.0C (9/1/96) Fixes: The heading for "Stolen From" and "Bad Pass" were swapped in the Stat Viewer.  Also added a prompt for saving games in the Game Form and fixed the display of  Total Points in the "League Merge" command.

Ver 3.0D (10/10/96): New game clock for live game scoring.  Automatically  tracks the total playing time and time since the last rest for each player.  To start game clock press the "Game Mode Scoring" button in the Game Form.

Ver 3.0E (10/17/96): Fixed minor problem with new game clock.  If a player had no stats for the initial time they were in the game their time played was not saved.

Ver 3.0F (10/26/96). If you added a player into a game but did not click on any stats and add the next player or save the game,  the first player without any stats did not get credited with a game played.  Added new "Print Miser" option button in the Stat Viewer under File>Page Setup to allow single reports the be printed on one page and still eject the page after the report is printed.  Fixed a problem when printing stats with the "Page Break" turned off for the first few reports on the page.  If you then turned on the page break and then printed the stats for the last report,  the page would automatically eject from the printer but the last report would appear to the far right of the page or not at all.

Ver. 3.0G ( 12/10/96). Change the prompt for entering your score when stat checking is turned off ( used to say "less than 5 players in game" ).  Fixed option to delete the last game without removing the player data from the game.  This could have caused a player to have stats in a game they never played in.  It only occured if you did not add any minutes played for any player in the game lineup and then you delete the game. If you add a new game and do not enter all the same players that were in the previous game you would wind up with some player with stats for a game they did not play in.  To fix this problem simply add the player into the game, then use Players > Remove from Lineup and remove them from the game- then resave the game.  This can no longer happen in version 3.0G or higher.

Ver 3.0H ( 12/11/96 ).  Fixed league merge problem that deleted the Total Points stat column and caused the remaining columns to be shifted 1 column to the left.  Also displayed a message about turning off OBE stats. ONLY League Merge was affected.
